 Who are we?

We are an end-of-life sanctuary for senior dogs. Think of it like a nursing home. But not one of those crappy ones your kids dump you in when they are sick of you. We are like one of the expensive ones where it's like you are on vacation at a really nice hotel for the rest of your life. Our dogs live in our house as family members. They are not kenneled, but have their run of the place. We have four acres of beautiful land, but honestly most of the dogs have zero interest in the great outdoors. I’m their private nurse, therapist, masseuse, mom, activity coordinator, cook and maid. We have a zillion beds (though my bed is remains the favorite no matter how crowded), heating pads galore and and endless supply of treats. We feed canned because old dogs either have crappy teeth or no teeth at all. Our “staff” consists of me, Hope, my husband Erik, my son Oliver, and our vet, Dave. That’s it. It is definitely a family affair and a labor of love.

We only take dogs from shelters because seniors are the most euthanized demographic in the shelter system. We save all our spaces for dogs in danger of being killed. It’s for this reason that we don’t rescue dogs from other rescues, since they are safe at that point, whereas dogs from shelters are not. We also do not take owner surrenders. We do not curate our dogs based on looks (as a lot of rescues do for social media) or behavior. We take anything…dogs with chronic illnesses like diabetes, Cushing’s disease, epilepsy…etc., terminally ill dogs - dogs with cancer, brain tumors, etc., dogs with behavioral issues (i.e. the crabby ankle biters), dogs that are incontinent or not housebroken, dogs that have seizures. dogs with dementia, dogs that are paralyzed, deaf or blind. We take anything and everything. Our motto is you get to be who you are, no judgement, just unconditional love for the remainder of your life. We help our dogs die with dignity, love, they leave this life knowing that they mattered. Because as The Beatles so aptly put it, all you need is love.

We really do believe its never too late to live happily ever after.

Our philosophy

  • All you need is love

  • A thousand kisses makes everything okay

  • Breathe deep and count to ten

  • Nothing is impossible

  • Miracles do happen

  • Quality over quantity

  • Sleeping all day is an acceptable hobby

  • Treats make everything better

  • It’s never too late to live happily ever after

  • The key to happiness is an old dog. Or two. Or a dozen.
