can you take my dog?
Our Sanctuary does not take dogs that are owner surrenders. So no. We can’t take your dog. Please do not email us and ask…the answer is always no. Our dogs come from shelters ONLY. Because there are a tremendous amount of senior and special needs dogs at the shelters, we save any openings for these dogs that are in danger. We do not take dogs as transfers from other rescues or sanctuaries.
Are any of your dogs available for adoption?
Nope. Once a dog lands here, here is where they stay and live happily ever after. We feel that it is very hard on senior dogs to be bounced around so we eliminate that by not rehoming. If you are interested in adopting a senior dog, do a google search for senior dog rescues in your area.
Do you need volunteers?
Our Sanctuary is run out of our home, so we don’t utilize volunteers. Honestly, we don’t consider this as a “business” it’s just our life and we prefer to run the sanctuary as just a large family. Also, our dogs thrive on routine and predictability…they tend to freak out when anyone comes over. Too much excitement can trigger seizures in some of our dogs, extreme fear or just too much chaos. We try to keep things very routine and predictable for them.
Do you allow visitors?
No, we do not allow visitors. Many of our dogs are very ill (in the hospice stage) or have severe behavioral issues and disruption to our normal routine and having strangers over is very stressful and chaotic for them. I’m also immunocompromised from cancer treatment and can’t be around people in these days of Covid. Thank you for your understanding.

where are you located?
We don’t give out our physical address because we end up with new dogs in the backyard and on the front porch. Basically, the Sanctuary is our home, which is located on four acres in the small, beautiful mountain town of Conifer, Colorado.
